Anetta Kusa - Director of Studies

With over 12 years' experience working at Crown, Anetta has undertaken various roles before becoming the Director of Studies. She has acquired extensive experience in ESOL teaching, management, and teacher training. 

As Director of Studies, Anetta is focused on maintaining the high standards in curriculum design and its implementation into teaching practice. She is also responsible for ensuring that Crown programmes are delivered to the highest level of quality. She loves the challenge and variety of her role which include all aspects of the academic side of a language school.

She leads a team of experienced and well-qualified staff who work well together and have the best interests of students firmly at heart.

Matt Hunt – Director of Studies

With over 20 years experience teaching English in a number of countries, Matt has a wide knowledge of language students' needs. His London DELTA background and roles in the Cambridge exam suite provide him an added insight into the various English courses Crown offers. He aims to assist all our students in achieving their goals and making the most of their Crown experience.

Pia Knarston - Programme Coordinator Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

Pia joined Crown in January 2012 with 10 years of experience in teaching Travel & Tourism Courses. She is passionate about developing the potential of young people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. She enjoys sharing her own experiences from working as a travel agent or from her extensive travel experience.

Pia worked over 6 years as a travel agent in her native Switzerland and has travelled the world. She speaks Swiss, German, French and English. During a one-year backpacking trip through South and Central America she improved her Spanish skills. Over 20 years ago Pia made the move from Switzerland to Dunedin, New Zealand where she worked as a travel consultant for VIP Travel.
 
Last year in June Pia took on the new role as the Programme Coordinator Travel, Tourism & Hospitality. She is enjoying the challenge of developing new courses and coordinating the team and programmes. She also still loves the close contact with students while teaching some subjects.

Sally Atkinson - Registrar and Administration Manager

Sally first started working part-time at Crown in 2012 while she was studying her Post Graduate Diploma in Linguistics at the University of Auckland. Because Sally loved working with Crown, after successfully completing her post-graduate, she became a full-time member of the team. Sally's main role is Crown's Registrar, and so she spends most of her time communicating with our international and local education retailers. She loves chatting with the students and helping wherever she can.

Fiona Smart – Programme Coordinator (Business)

Fiona came to work at Crown Institute as a Travel and Tourism Tutor.  She worked in that department for about 2½ years and then went off and completed a computing course.  On completion of the course she came back to Crown as a Computing Tutor and has been teaching computing ever since.  Fiona has also been the Programme Coordinator for the Business School since the beginning of 2010.  All up, she has been at Crown for 14 years.

Cherie Cawdron - Careers &
School Liaison

Cherie has spent 20 years working in the travel and tourism industry in a number of roles within New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Japan.   Her career has included working as a Consultant and a Manager within both retail and wholesale travel.   

Four years ago she joined Crown Institute as a Travel and Tourism Tutor while studying part time to complete a BA in Business Psychology. With her studies completed she is now working as a Tutor and as Career and School Liaison.

Passionate about the booming tourism industry in New Zealand she enjoys sharing her wealth of experience to motivate and inspire students wishing to begin their own journey in this fun and dynamic industry.  Her own travel experiences are extensive and she has visited many countries, her favourites being Canada, Japan and Thailand.

Rob McLeay - Sales and Marketing Manager

Rob has 15 years experience working in the private training industry specialising in after-school educational art courses (Cartooning)  and has published and created educational IP which had been taught to over 1500 students around New Zealand.

The last 4  years he has been working in tertiary education working in various roles in Sales and Marketing.

He is currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Applied Marketing .
