Crown Institute Hospitality, Travel and Tourism students enjoyed a day of networking with different companies at its Industry Day on the 17th of November.

A diverse variety of companies participated in the event, ranging from Air New Zealand and Showcase Hospitality to adventure tourism companies such as OGO Rotorua and Agroventures!

Natalie Tolhopf, Campus Manager and Careers Advisor says, “networking is the best way to learn about new job opportunities, but many students are too shy or nervous.  It is important to us that we offer our students a chance to form these skills relationships with people in the industry”.

This was an excellent forum for students to learn more about the many different companies in the industry and the types of career paths they can take. It also gave them a chance to meet and make contacts in the industry for the future.

Crown Institute students really appreciated the opportunity.  Darryl Cook a student studying the Crown Certificate in International Travel, Tourism and Airline Studies course really appreciated the opportunity “the Industry Open Day really reaffirmed that I’m heading in the right career path”.

The Industry Open Day is a bi annual event held at Crown Institute.  Different companies from the hospitality and travel industry participate and give students insight into what it is like to be working in these exciting industries.

Take a look at the poster below to find out which companies attended the day.

If you would like more information about the courses then phone 0800 357 316 or email info@crown.ac.nz

Crown Institute Food & Beverage students did us proud at the Auckland Regional Culinary Fare on the 11th & 12th of June. Winning a total of 14 Silver/Bronze medals.

Three Silver and seven Bronze medals were won in the Classic Cocktail category, two Silver & two Bronze in the Mocktail category.

The Auckland Regional Culinary Fare is designed to give hospitality industry trainees some exposure to competition before Nationals.

Our students are now busy preparing for the Nationals which are being held on the 17th & 19th of July. We’re sure our students are going to do incredibly well.

Here at Crown we are very proud of all our students’ successes. Crown students are dedicated and they put in the time into being the best they can be.

Well done & Congratulations!!

Our Hospitality students transformed the humble sandwich into edible art! Students had to prepare, assemble and present complex sandwiches so they created new recipes then whipped up culinary creations! The competition was fierce and intense but high quality, fantastic tasting sandwiches were professionally presented.
