New for 2012, Crown Institute has partnered up with STA Travel and developed a new level 4 option for students studying the Crown Certificate in International Travel, Tourism and Airline Studies course.
Crown Institute has been providing leading Hospitality, Business, and Travel & Tourism courses for almost 40 years. Crown recognises the importance of keeping up to date with industry requirements.

Globally it is the preferred travel company for over 6 million people, with over 200 retail locations worldwide including 13 stores, a call centre and online presence at www.statravel.co.nz in New Zealand. Offering much more than a cheap airfare anyone looking to ‘experience the world face to face’ will find an array of real value products on offer for individual journeys, work, study abroad and group travel.
Crown Institute has worked closely with STA Travel to develop two exciting new units for their students. Crown is now offering the STA Travel Sales Certificate for all students studying the level 4 certificate and the STA Travel Marketing Certificate, for those studying the Strand Two option. “STA Travel is pleased to support Crown Institute of Studies and is always on the lookout for bright, fun loving, passionate travellers with a solid background in sales” says Natalie Sharod – STA Travel Business Development Manager.
Both options provide students with the broad knowledge required by all areas of the industry, including airline, retail travel, wholesale travel and tourism. This helps to cater for the diverse needs of students and provides more opportunities to assist them in preparation for employment.
Strand One, the IATA pathway, will be of particular interest to those wishing to progress their career in airline ticketing. Strand Two develops students ability in sales and marketing skills, allowing students to excel in customer service, team building and online promotional methods essential for the travel and tourism industry.
Crown Institute still has places available in the 7th February and 26th March intakes. Contact Crown’s friendly staff on 0800 357 316 or email info@crown.ac.nz for more information.

Looking all glamorous and fabulous our Crown Certificate in International Hospitality- Hotel Services and Reception Operations students loved getting hands on experience on our own Crown flight deck last week!
Crown students had to dress as flight attendants and go through scenarios they would face as a flight attendant. The re-enactment was the last component of a 2-week online Cabin Crew course and now our students will be awarded a Cabin Crew Ticket Diploma from Cabin Crew Direct.
The Cabin Crew Ticket Diploma is a great qualification to hold and it has given Crown students many opportunities and has opened many doors. An internationally recognised qualification, students holding this diploma have a distinct advantage when applying for cabin crew roles.
Our students had fun and learnt a lot from experiencing what it is really like to be a flight attendant and got a taste of what their future career maybe like.
Congratulations to all the Crown’s travel and tourism students who sat the IATA/UFTAA Foundation & EBT Course exams in March. Crown Institute had a 100% pass rate! AND 70% of students received Distinctions!

Crowns Extreme Makeover
Our mission was to move our English Language students from Eden Crescent to Lorne Street. To accomplish this the building needed to be redesigned to handle the 500 strong student community!
