Come and join New Zealand’s largest industry! The Tourism industry is a booming industry with lots of
opportunities for you to grab. The Certificate in Tourism Level 3 gives you an insight of the industry if you haven’t studied Tourism before. It also equips you with knowledge and skills that are transferrable to any industry. You will focus on outbound and inbound tourism, legislation specific to the tourism industry and look at the New Zealand geography. 

This course also comes with Real World Experience (RWE). This is an exciting addition to our course and this gives our graduates a cutting edge chance to enter the industry as soon as they finish our qualifications. Crown recognises that businesses now need work-ready graduates and understands this from the perspective of the employer. This is why Crown also gives students work experience while they study. Our industry ties with travel agencies, hotel chains, ground handling agents and other tourism related associations make our students more likely to get the work experiences that they deserve.

You will also go on class visits and have guest speakers from the industry to tell you more about the fantastic opportunities in tourism and travel in New Zealand and to get you excited about working in such a bubbly and exciting industry.

  • It directly employs 7.5 per cent of the New Zealand workforce and it has the potential to improve the economies of communities around the country.
  • 188,136 people were directly employed in tourism (7.5 percent of the total number of people employed in New Zealand).
  • 36,000 extra tourism workers are needed by 2025.

During the 20 week programme, you will be fully equipped to enter the exciting world of tourism. This course is an excellent way to take charge of your life and being in control of your future. This course will guide you but the real fun will be once you enter into a role where your heart will scream with excitement as you make that leap forward.

Course summary

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work in a variety of entry level roles within the Tourism and Travel sector. They will recognise the importance of customer service skills and communication within the travel and tourism industry. Graduates will be able to apply knowledge of major New Zealand tourism destinations and recognise the importance of the travel and tourism industries to the New Zealand economy.

Course times 20 hours per week from 9.00am - 1.00pm or 1.30-5.30pm
Domestic entry requirements You should be 16 years of age or above on the date you start your course. You must attend a personal interview and meet all eligibility criteria (please contact us for details).
International student entry requirements IELTS 5.0 with no band lower than 5, or TOEFL pBT 510 with an essay score of 4.5 TWE, or TOEFL iBT 64 with a writing score of 20.
