The New Zealand Certificate in Travel level 4 is a great way to get started in the travel industry. It’s a practical course designed for individuals who enjoy emerging themselves in helping others find the perfect journey. In this course you learn Amadeus, which is a system that is used in the travel industry. This system is used by airlines, hospitality, airports, cruises and tour operators. Knowing this system would give you that edge in applying for role in any field where this system is utilised.

As a travel agent you will have the opportunity to meet new people from around the world and engage in very interesting conversations with complete strangers. You will tell them your stories of travel and your experiences that will entice them to travel and experience it for themselves. This industry pays you well for hard work. It is estimated that a senior travel agent can make up to approximately 60k per year including commissions and bonuses.

This course also comes with Real World Experience (RWE). This is an exciting addition to our course and this gives our graduates a cutting edge chance to enter the industry as soon as they finish our qualifications. Crown recognises that businesses now need graduates to this and understands this from the prospective of the employer. This is why Crown also gives students work experience while they study. Our industry ties with travel agencies, hotel chains, ground handling agents and other tourism related associations make our students more likely to get the work experiences that they deserve.

Our tutors are qualified and well experienced professionals that are relevant and keep themselves current by attending seminars and conferences. Some staff are also practising travel brokers. You will go on class visits and have guest speakers from the industry to tell you more about the industry and get you excited about working in such a bubbly and exciting industry. Every year we have a trip to an international destination which is optional, however, a great way to see the world.

  • Tourism generated a direct contribution to GDP of $12.9 billion, or 5.6 percent of GDP
  • The global travel market was worth more than $629 billion in 2017, and is predicted to reach almost $818 billion by 2020
  • Annual international tourism expenditure is $16.2 billion – $44 million per day.
  • Annual domestic tourism expenditure is $23.0 billion – $63 million per day.
  • By 2026, travel will directly account for 135.8 million jobs with an annual increase of 2.1 percent during the next decade.
  • Travel and tourism directly generated more than 107 million jobs in 2015 (3.6 percent of the world’s total employment) and that’s forecast to grow nearly two percent in 2016 to 109.8 million. This includes employment by hotels, travel agents, airlines and other passenger transportation services (excluding commuter services).
  • 36,000 extra travel and tourism workers are needed by 2025.

Course times 20 hours per week from 9.00am -1.00pm or from 1.30pm - 5.30pm
Domestic entry requirements You should be 16 years of age or above on the date you start your course. You must attend a personal interview and meet all eligibility criteria (please contact us for details).  Completion of Year 12 & 13 Tourism or equivalent preferred.
International student entry requirements IELTS 5.5 with no band lower than 5, or TOEFL pBT 530 with an essay score of 4 TWE, or TOEFL iBT 71 with a writing score of 20.
