New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Small Business) Level 3

The programme aims to provide knowledge and necessary skills to enable students to identify relevant business opportunities, to assess options in small business, and to establish a business plan.

Students will equip themselves with a wide range of practical skills and the confidence to begin employment in a business environment, or move on to further study in the New Zealand Certificate in Business and beyond.

Students will gain the skills and knowledge needed to prepare them for a small business and helps students develop strong business and communication skills, broadening their career prospects.

The Programme covers identifying relevant business opportunities; assessing the feasibility, viability and requirements of a small business; how to produce a plan for establishing a small business, and how to evaluate technology options to effectively operate a small business. Students will also learn about legislation relating to small businesses, and gain communication and people skills for building effective relationships with stakeholders.

The programme will cover the following areas in modules:
  • Module 1: Business Opportunities in New Zealand
  • Module 2: Small Business Professionalism, Legal and Ethical Requirements 
  • Module 3: Business Communication and Problem Solving
  • Module 4: Small Business Planning

Course times 20 hours per week from 9.00am - 1.00pm or 1.30-5.30pm

Further study If you pass this course and you have the required English level, you may wish to work towards your New Zealand Certificate in Business (Small Business and Administration & Technology) Level 4.
