Looking to take your hospitality career to the next level? Crown Institute’s New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 5) programme will give you the skills and knowledge to move into the top tiers of hospitality management!
Our recently revamped course will allow you to gain insight into key areas of the food and beverage industry, such as operations, legal compliance, staffing and staff training, facilities and delivering high – level, efficient service. Emphasis is placed on real world scenarios, such as delivering solutions acceptable to all parties when faced with challenging customer complaints, or hiring staff with the right skills for a position. Various leadership styles that can be applied to supervisory and management roles within the hospitality industry will also be examined.
In addition to classroom study, there are scheduled guest speakers (from highly reputable international hotels such as Cordis, Sofitel and Crown Plaza, site visits and field trips to working hotels, as well as food and wine shows, where students gain exposure to the latest and emerging trends within the hospitality industry. Site visits are a fantastic opportunity for students to view the facilities offered, observe the operations of different departments of a hotel, and see standard operating procedures in practice. Students are encouraged to build contacts in the industry through these visits to ensure excellent employment opportunities upon graduation.

|Course times||40 hours per week. Class time: Monday – Thursday 9.00am - 4.30pm, Friday independent study/work placement|
|Domestic entry requirements||You should be 17 years of age or over on the date you start your course. You must have NCEA level 3 or University Entrance or New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality level 3 or 4 or equivalent knowledge and work experience of 1.5 years. You must attend an interview, either on the phone or in person.|
|English entry level||IELTS 5.5 with no band lower than 5, or TOEFL pBT 530 with an essay score of 4 TWE, or TOEFL iBT 71 with a writing score of 20.|
|Further study||If you successfully complete this course you may wish to continue your studies at degree level. You may be eligible for credits toward further study. Please ask for details.|
