High School Short Courses

Crown works closely with many High Schools to deliver short courses and Gateway programmes in Hospitality and Travel & Tourism. We are accredited to provide a broad range of unit standards in these subject areas.
The list below represents some of our more common courses, however we can work with schools to deliver a particular subject if you require. Contact us at shortcourse@crown.ac.nz to discuss how we can work together.
 

HOSPITALITY

 

  • Barista – School Holidays – 3 days - $215 incl GST (max 20 students per course)

Unit: 17288 - Prepare & present espresso beverages for service (Level 3, 5 credits)

2020 Dates:

14 – 16 April 6- 8 July 28 – 30 September

17 – 21 April (excl. weekend) 9 – 13 July (excl. weekend) 1 – 5 October (excl. weekend)

22 – 24 April 14 – 16 July 6 – 8 October

 

  • Extended Barista – Term Time – 4 days - $260 incl GST (max 15 students per course)

Units: 17284 – Demonstrate knowledge of coffee origin and production (Level 3, 3 credits) and 17288 - Prepare & present espresso beverages for service (Level 3, 5 credits)

Term 1, 2020 Dates:

Course 1: Thu 27, Fri 28 February, Thu 5, Fri 6 March

Course 2: Mon 9, Tue 10, Mon 16, Tue 17 March

Course 3: Mon 23, Tue 24, Mon 30, Tue 31 March

 

  • Bar Tending/Mocktails – Term Time – 3 days - $215 incl GST (max 15 students per course)

Unit: 14425 – Prepare and serve hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks for a commercial hospitality establishment (Level 2, 5 credits)

Term 1, 2020 Dates:

Course 1: Mon 24, Tue 25 February, Tue 3 March

Course 2: Thu 19, Fri 20, Thu 26 March

 

  • Food Safety – Term Time – 3 days - $215 incl GST (max 15 students per course)

Unit: 168 – Demonstrate knowledge of food contamination hazards, amd control methods used in a food establishment (Level 3, 4 credits)

Term 1, 2020 Dates:

Course 1: Mon 2, Thu 12, Fri 13 March

Course 2: Thu 2, Fri 3, Tue 7 April

 

TRAVEL & TOURISM

 

  • Flight Attending – School Holidays – 2 days - $115 incl GST (max 20 students per course)

23755 - Identify and self-evaluate the demands of a specific role in a tourism workplace (Level 3, 3 credits)

  • Destination Pacific Islands – School Holidays – 3 days - $165 incl GST (max 20 students per course)

3727 - Demonstrate knowledge of Pacific Island countries as visitor destinations (Level 3, 5 credits)

30 September – 2 October
